Ray was raised in the Humboldt Park community of Chicago and attended North Grand High School,
earning his high school diploma in June 2016. He participated in the Legacy Youth after-school
program during his junior and senior year as a program leader and intern.
Currently Attending: Harold Washington College

Favorite Legacy Youth Lesson: Communicating with Confidence. I consider this my favorite lesson
because throughout my childhood, I felt shy when it came to speaking to people and being the center
of attention. Communicating with Confidence was the perfect lesson to really pull me out of my shell
and help me have enough confidence to socialize with others and be myself around them.
Proudest Accomplishment to Date: Graduating from high school because I almost didn’t graduate. I
was failing my classes and Legacy Leaders helped me turn all my grades around in time to graduate
and then helped me get into college.
Future Goals: I want to own my own non-profit music organization for youth because I want to give
back. I went through a lot growing up and trying to figure out who I am in the midst of everything
and Legacy Leaders has helped me find my identity. What I was given through LLI, I want to give to
